Football players are some of the biggest show-offs in the world. From displays of soccer skills, to adorning fashion accessories, players always want to find a way to stand out. Hairstyles have become a prominent feature through which players carve out a unique identity. A select group of players, apart from their football skills, were also known to wear their hair long on the field of play. Today we spotlight some of those players whose long locks of hair also caught our attention on the field of play.
1. Jurgen Klinsmann
The former German international was a fearsome forward during his playing days. Blessed with good pace and tireless running, the 1990 World Cup winner was a pain in the backside for opposition defenders. Apart from his goal-scoring exploits for club and country, Klinsmann was known for his long blonde hair, easily recognizable by the way, it tussled in the wind as he ran with the ball. Jurgen won many other titles during his playing days, proving that the highlight of his career wasn’t just his hair.
2. David Ginola
The technically gifted Frenchman is mostly remembered for his exploits with English sides Newcastle United FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC. David was an attacking midfielder known for his exquisite skill and thunderous long-range shoots. Another thing that stood Ginola out was his long mane of hair greyish-brunette in color. Once he started running with the ball it was hard not to recognize him with his long hair bouncing all over the place. Despite not achieving much with the French national team, David will always be admired for the time he spent in the English Premier League.
3. Tomas Rosicky
The former Czech Republic attacking midfielder was a joy to watch on the football field. The former Arsenal FC and Borussia Dortmund player was known for technical skills and ball-carrying ability, able to bamboozle opponents with breathtaking skills. He was known to wear his dark hair long for some period, but he later trimmed it. Unfortunately, consistent nagging injuries didn’t allow him to display his great talent as often as he would have liked.
4. Ronaldinho
Ronaldinho, as he’s popularly known is arguably one of the greatest players to have featured in modern times. The Brazilian attacking midfielder is fondly remembered for his ball Wizardry and bursts of pace that would live opponents just as flabbergasted. Gaucho was also known to wear his hair long throughout his playing career.
5. Gabriel Batistuta
The former Argentine striker was well known for wearing his hair quite long during his playing days. That didn’t stop Batistuta from being one of the most prolific forwards in world football following his goal-scoring exploits with Argentina and ACF Fiorentina.
6. Fabricio Coloccini
The Argentine footballer is one of the famous footballers with long hair still actively playing. The 39-year-old plays as a centre-back for Primera División club San Lorenzo.
