The Hornets also reached the FA Cup final twice, losing 2-1 to Everton in 1984 and suffering a heavy 6-0 defeat to Manchester City in 2019.

Their pursuit of glory continues as they strive to make their mark in English football by winning a major title.

Mainz 05, founded in 1905, are a Bundesliga mainstay with one of the most passionate fanbases in Germany.

Known as die Nullfünfer, they’re famous for their carnival culture and fierce rivalries with Eintracht Frankfurt and Kaiserslautern.

Despite their long history, Mainz have never lifted a major trophy.

Their biggest breakthrough came under Jürgen Klopp, who guided them to their first Bundesliga promotion in 2004, a fairytale moment that put them on the map.

They’ve had flashes of European football too, including a UEFA Cup appearance in 2005 and a fifth-place Bundesliga finish in 2011.

More recently, they even pushed for Champions League qualification in 2025 before settling for sixth and a Conference League spot.

For all their progress, Mainz remain one of Europe’s most famous clubs without silverware.

In 2019, Union Berlin secured promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in its history.

The club qualified for the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League in 2021 after finishing 7th in the league and went a step better by qualifying for the Europa League in 2022.

Founded in 1901 and nicknamed the “Seagulls,” Brighton & Hove Albion have never won a major trophy in their long history.

Their most successful period was between 1979 and 1983, when they played in the First Division and reached the 1983 FA Cup final, losing to Manchester United after a replay.

They were relegated from the First Division in the same season.

By the late 1990s, Brighton were in the 4th tier of English football and were having financial difficulties.

After narrowly avoiding relegation from the Football League to the Conference in 1997, a boardroom takeover saved the club from liquidation.

Successive promotions in 2001 and 2002 brought Brighton back to the second tier.

In 2011, the club moved into the 31,800-capacity Falmer Stadium — after 14 years without a permanent home ground.

In the 2016/17 season, Brighton finished second in the EFL Championship and were thus promoted to the Premier League — ending a 34-year absence from the top flight.

Brighton and Hove Albion have emerged as one of the most feared sides outside the top six in the Premier League and a major trophy is not far off from them.

Leganes remained in the top flight for 4 seasons, reaching its highest position ever by finishing 13th in the 2018/19 season.

In 2019/20, the club, unfortunately, got relegated from La Liga in the last game of the season.

They won the Intertoto Cup in 2003 but lost the FA Cup final in 1975 and the Europa League final in 2010, losing 2-1 to Atlético Madrid.

In the second division of the league, they’ve won four Championship titles (1949, 1999, 2021, 2022) and two League One titles (1932, 1997).

However, they still struggle to keep up with the Premier League’s top teams, leaving their dedicated Craven Cottage fans longing for more success.

Much like Fulham, Italian Serie A club Udinese Calcio has never won a single major trophy barring the UEFA Intertoto Cup they lifted in 2000.

Founded on November 30, 1896, as a sports club and on July 5, 1911, as a football club, Udinese has had notable achievements.

They won Serie B three times (1925, 1956, 1979) and nearly clinched the Serie A title in the 1954-55 season, finishing second to Milan. Under Alberto Zaccheroni in the 1996-97 season, they qualified for the UEFA Cup.

The next season, they finished third in Serie A, driven by Oliver Bierhoff’s 27 goals. A surprising fourth-place finish in the 2004-05 season earned them their first-ever qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Udinese has been home to several remarkable players over the years, including Antonio Di Natale, Rodrigo Dr Paul, Alexis Sánchez, Fabio Quagliarella, Dino Zoff, Asamoah Gyan, and Oliver Bierhoff, who have all left an indelible mark on the club.

Despite the talents of these extraordinary players, the club has never managed to secure a Serie A title.
