Kappa is an Italian clothing company that sponsors teams in sports like soccer, American Football, F1, Esport, and others. The Italian kit makers, who were founded in 1978, 45 years ago, manufacture kits for some of the biggest clubs in Europe and include some old powerhouses.
Even though Kappa is not the most popular kit maker in world football right now, there are still some top-class club sides that are wearing jerseys manufactured by Kappa.
1. Venezia
Venezia and Kappa took the Sports jersey to a new level when Venezia got promoted to the Seria A in the 2021/2022 season.
The released designs were top-notch, with collars on the home and away stripes.
However, Venezia’s stay on the top flight didn’t last long, but they continued to be kitted by Kappa. The 2022/2023 kits had a bold black collared home shirt with long and short sleeves.
There was a second kit in the white and round neck with slim hoops of gold and orange, while the third kit was a gold kit with collars similar to the home shirt.
2. Fiorentina
Fiorentina became Kappa’s biggest soccer partner in 2020-2021 when they signed a new deal worth four years plus an additional two that can be extended.
Fiorentina’s previous kit makers had delivery issues, but Kappa took advantage of it and delivered, and now they will kit the UEFA Europa Conference League losing finalists in their popular purple jerseys again.
3. Esperance
Kappa has managed to break into the African market as they have been producing kits for Tunisia’s big men, Esperance.
Esperance are one of the biggest African football clubs.
The financial details of their deal are quite sketchy, but it may not be unconnected to Kappa’s deal with the Tunisian national team, who are also one of their partners.
However, the Kappa deal with the Tunisian national team will end in 2023, with Adidas set to take over.
4. Hull City
Kappa’s presence in English football has been limited to lower-league English teams, but that could change for the better as Kappa signed a deal with Hull City.
Hull City will be kitted by the Italians for the 2023/2024 EFL Championship campaign, taking over from Umbro. How long this partnership will last is unknown for now.
5. AS Monaco
AS Monaco and Kappa got into their current deal in 2019/2022, and the Italians will pay between €5m ($5.6m) and €6m per season as the new kit supplier at French club AS Monaco.
The deal will come to an end In the 2024/2025 season, meaning that there are only two seasons left for both parties to remain, partners unless there is an extension or renewal of the deal.
Kappa was with Monaco between 1998 and 2001 during a successful period that saw the likes of Thierry Henry, David Trezeguet, and Fabian Barthez play for the club.
6. Kaizers Chiefs
After a two-decade partnership between Kaizers Chiefs and Nike, the South Africans turned to Kappa towards the tail end of the 2020/2023 season.
The Amakhosi returned to their famous partners after 27 years apart and will hope for more fruitful years with the Italians.
7. Deportivo de La Coruña
Deportivo is one of the few clubs that have a long-term deal with Kappa after reaching an agreement in the 2021/2022 season to produce kits for the Spanish club till 2026.
Unless there is an early termination, like in the case of Mainz, Kappa will kit Deportivo for the next three years.
8. Aris Thessaloniki
Greek side will also get kits from Kappa, who will be kitting them from this 2023/2024 season with their new season jerseys already released.
The Greek side will get four kits, including home, away, third, and fourth alternate shirts and the goalkeepers’ shirts as well. Kappa has gone with a bold yellow and black stripe for the home top.
Aris’s away kit is a plain yellow with black trims and details, which is alternated to pure black and yellow details for the fourth kit, while the third shirt is a bold maroon color.
9. Real Valladolid
Real Valladolid is a Spanish football club based in Valladolid, Castile and León, Spain.
The club, owned by Ronaldo Nazario dropped into the Segunda division in Spain, after a poor finish to the 2022/2023 season.
As they return to the lower division, so will they have a new kit maker in Kappa who may deviate from the purple and white stripes we had last season.
10. Empoli
Empoli is an Italian professional football club based in Empoli, Tuscany. The club was founded in 1920 and currently competes in the Italian Serie A.
Empoli are one of the popular soccer teams sponsored by Kappa.
They signed a five-year deal with the club to provide all the kits for the first team, youth academy, and women’s team.
11. Red Star FC
Red Star FC is a French association football club founded in Paris in 1897, who currently play in the Championnat National.
They are the fourth oldest French football club.
Red Star FC had a beautiful two colors home kit last season, 2022/23, from Kappa, with a home kit in two shades of green separating each side like the Blackburn style.
The shirt is worn on a white shirt for a beautiful combination, albeit we will only see such for a limited time unless there’s an extension between both parties when the current deal ends in 2024.
