6 Famous Football Players Who Have Never Won A Trophy

Most top footballers have at one time or the other won trophies, be it for club and country. Curiously, however, they are a select group of soccer players who despite their great individual skill and ability have never been able to win a trophy with their respective teams. These include:

1. Stan Collymore

Stan Collymore

The retired English player was active between 1989-2001. He was a notable striker known for his exploits at English side Nottingham Forest FC where he scored 41 goals in 65 appearances. He also played for Premier League side Liverpool FC for two seasons (1995-1997), where he netted 28 goals in 64 appearances. Collymore also earned 3 England caps. The closest he got to winning a trophy was in 1996 when Liverpool lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United by 1-0.

2. Bernd Schneider

Bernd is a retired German international player who was active between 1991-2009. Nicknamed the White Brazilian Bernd was famous for his dribbling ability and passing skills. He was also renowned for his dead-ball ability with his accurate freekicks and corner kicks. Schneider played for a host of German clubs but is most remembered for his time at Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen 04. Surprisingly Bernd ended his career trophyless coming agonizingly close in the 2000/2001 season when Leverkusen finished runners-up in the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and UEFA Champions League.

3. Antonio Di Natale

Di Natale is an Italian international striker fondly remembered by Udinese Calcio fans for his time at Le Zebrette. Antonio was an accomplished striker for the Serie A side, netting a monstrous 191 goals in 385 appearances. Despite finishing as the Italian league top goal scorer twice, he never won anything with Udinese. The closest he got to winning a trophy was with the Italian national team when they finished as runners-up at the 2012 Euros.

4. Matt Le Tissier

Le Tissier is one of the greatest English players never to win a trophy. The former Southampton FC Legend was known for his prolific goal-scoring prowess plus his strikes from distance. Matt featured 443 times for the Saints scoring 161 goals. He also played 8 times for England.

5. Leighton Baines

Leighton Baines

The 36-year-old former Everton FC left-back was renowned for his dead-ball skills, especially his freekicks. Baines also played 30 times for England. He got a runners-up medal in the 2008-2009 FA Cup finals loss to Chelsea. He announced his retirement in 2020 after 18 years of playing at the top flight.

6. Harry Kane

Harry Kane is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world now. The 27-year-old Englishman has had an illustrious career with Tottenham Hotspurs and the England national team, nonetheless he has not won a single trophy yet. Although he is a talented striker, and still has many more years left to play, Harry Kane is still one if the famous footballers who have never won a trophy. He came agonizingly close at the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League final, where he lost to Liverpool.
