The start of the new season of the German Bundesliga is almost upon us. The 2022/2023 campaign promises to be another entertaining season with the caliber of players that will be on display. Today we will be looking at the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga in 2022.
1. Manuel Neuer
For many seasons, the Bayern Munich captain has undoubtedly been the number goalkeeper in the Bundesliga.
The 36-year-old has been the Bavarian giant’s number 1 for over a decade due to his excellent goalkeeping skills and winning mentality.
Neuer’s calmness and decisiveness in between the sticks have continued to ensure that Munich has one of the stingiest defenses in the land.
Last campaign, the German international was at his usual best conceding just 26 goals all season.
Manuel also kept 11 clean sheets in 28 league games to maintain his position as the top dog when it comes to goalkeeping.
2. Yann Sommer
Yann is a Swiss international goalkeeper renowned for his shot-stopping skills. Despite playing for a modest side like Borrusia Monchengladbach, Sommer has still been able to stand out with his sharp reflexes.
What makes Yann Sommer one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga is his superb penalty-saving specialty, and ability to make crucial saves.
Last campaign, the 33-year-old conceded 60 goals in 33 league appearances. He also kept 5 clean sheets.
3. Lukas Hradecky
Hradecky is a Finnish goalkeeper who plays for top German side Bayer Leverkusen.
The 32-year-old is not only Bayer’s number 1 goalkeeper but also one of the best in the Bundesliga. Lukas is blessed with great size, which comes in handy when stretching to make crucial saves.
Bayer Leverkusen had one of the meanest defense in the League last season, and it was partly due to the brilliance of Hradecky.
Last season he featured in 32 league games, conceding 44 goals. He also kept 8 clean sheets.
4. Kevin Trapp
Kevin is another top goalkeeper who regularly features in the Bundesliga. The 32-year-old is on the books of German side Eintracht Frankfurt with whom he has been with for about 3 years.
Trapp had a decent season in the last campaign conceding just 46 goals in 32 games. The Frankfurt shot-stopper also kept 5 clean sheets throughout the campaign.
The German international is definitely one of the best goalkeepers in the German League.

5. Péter Gulácsi
Gulácsi is a Hungarian goalkeeper who plays for exciting Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
The 32-year-old is a very solid and reliable goal-tender who has been keeping Leipzig for about 7 seasons.
The Hungary international played 33 league games last season, conceding just 34 goals.
Péter also recorded 10 clean sheets, the second best in the league, cementing his place as one of the Bundesliga’s elite goalkeepers.
