Poland is one of the well-known footballing nations in Europe. The Polish national team achieved third place at the World Cup in 1974 and 1982. The country has always had great footballers like Grzegorz Lato, Włodzimierz Lubański, Kazimierz Deyna, and Kazimierz Deyna.

Even today, there are many top football players in Poland. These Polish footballers have played for the clubs in Europe and achieved amazing feats.

The most famous Polish footballer right now is Robert Lewandoski.

Beyond the former Bayern Munich striker, let’s take a look at the five best football players in Poland in 2022.

Position: Striker
Age: 34

Lewandowski’s list of accolades is endless, highest goalscorer gongs here and there, and best football player in Germany and Poland. Multiple Bundesliga winners, UEFA Champions League winners, FIFA Club World Cup, endless.

No one would mind having Robert in their team for any championship talkless as a skipper.

The 34-year-old holds the record for both goals and appearances for the Polish national team, with 76 goals in 134 appearances. However, none of these came at the World Cup, and it is surprising.

He became captain of the national team in 2015.

Poland’s Robert Lewandowski is undoubtedly one of the best strikers to have ever played, but he’s still searching for his first-ever World Cup goal.

However, this hasn’t diminished his status as the best football player from Poland, and while time is running out for him to tick that box on his bucket list, Lewandowski remains one of the greatest strikers in football and one of the best players in Poland’s history.

Now with Barcelona after leaving Bayern Munich, Lewandowski is poised for joy at the Mundial. Even without scoring, his importance is reflected in the leadership role as the team skipper.

2. Wojciech Szczęsny

Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 32

Experience upfront, experience in goal looks like the perfect formula for Poland as Wojciech Szczęsny comes up in number to here.

There’s no way the former Arsenal goalkeeper wouldn’t be considered a top-five Poland footballers currently, especially as it is seen that the Europeans aren’t the strongest teams in competitions.

Goalkeeping efforts come in handy, especially with Lionel Messi and Argentina lurking in Group C.

Szczęsny has amassed over 200 appearances in the Serie A, three Italian titles, Italian cups, and more. At Arsenal, the goalkeeper was instrumental in playing 150 times and winning the FA Cup, not to forget several UEFA Champions League appearances.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper will be needed not because he has to add to his 64 caps for the national team but because he’s the most qualified for the Number 1 shirt.

Position: Centre-back
Age: 26

Jan Bednarek scored at the World Cup for Poland in Russia, and four years later, the 26-year-old central defender can add to it or leave that to Lewandowski and do his primary duty.

Bednarek has formed an informed partnership with Kamil Glik in the Poland defense. His time at Southampton has yielded 150 appearances in the Premier League, although he’s with Aston Villa on loan this season.

Bednarek and Glik had the quality enough to stop Alex Isak, Ibrahimovic, and Forsberg in their playoff match with Sweden; they will need to step it up against Argentina and Mexico.

Since joining, he has played 300 matches for Napoli to underline his importance. Zieliński has consistently been one of the best football players in Poland.

He’s known for his aggressive and combative style as a defensive Midfielder, one that disrupts the flow of opponents, and with 91 appearances for Poland, expect him to be in Qatar.
