1. Mikel Merino – Real Sociedad
The Spanish midfielder had a very good season for his club Real Sociedad. The 24-year old has enjoyed a meteoric rise this season. Although, Merino has so far been able to contribute 2 goals and 4 assists from this season, what has stood out is his work rate, vision, and ability on the ball. The former Newcastle player is always on the move, making late, unmarked runs into the box, and tracking back defensively.
2. Frenkie De Jong – Barcelona
The Barcelona midfielder has been impressive this season. The Dutchman was often used as a box-to-box midfielder by Ronald Koeman this season. He was able to make late runs into the box and scored 3 goals while providing 4 assists.
