Can England Win The 2022 FIFA World Cup?

World Cup title

When people talk about the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Brazil and defending champions France are considered the absolute favorite to win the title. There are also many other countries who are top contenders to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Nevertheless, there are good reasons for the motherland of football to start the tournament of the world’s best football nations with hope. The whole of England is hoping for its first World Cup victory since 1966.

Such a major sporting event is also popular with all friends of sports betting. Numerous attractive odds, as well as special offers, ensure lucrative bets and shining eyes for all those interested in sports betting. The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will definitely provide great excitement for all of us.

Defying the form crisis: the great hope for the World Cup title lives on!

During and also after the last European Championship, the English national team convinced its own audience and many experts with refreshing offensive football. However, there is little left of this enthusiasm for the Three Lions’ performance. Rather, the whole country is in panic mode – and that is shortly before the upcoming World Cup.

In the recent past, the team around captain and goal scorer Harry Kane has rarely been able to convince with good performances. They were eliminated from the Nations League group with Germany, Italy, and Hungary. Just like the Welsh national team, the English could not win a single match in the group phase.

The recent successes were quickly forgotten. During the World Cup in 2018, the Three Lions managed to reach the semi-finals. By losing the “match for third place,” it was enough for a proud fourth place in the end, despite everything. The English national team narrowly missed out on the long-awaited major title at the following European Championship in 2021, where Kane, Sterling, and Co. made it to the final. As is well known, this final was also lost.

The Three Lions were defeated by the strong Italians at home in Wembley Stadium. All in all, things have not gone too bad for the English in the past international tournaments.

However, the team performed incredibly in qualifying for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Thanks to an impressive goal difference of +36, the English national team achieved the best goal difference of all participating teams from Europe. Only two of the ten matches played could not be won by the team around defender Harry Maguire.

Accordingly, despite the team’s recent slump in form, anticipation for the upcoming World Cup prevails in England. The Three Lions were convincing in both the last World Cup and the last European Championship. So there is every reason for England fans to be optimistic about the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Worthy of a world champion: the England national team squad!

The fifth-placed team in the FIFA world rankings has an extremely high-quality squad. Especially in the English attack, there are several players of world-class level. First and foremost, of course, is goal scorer and captain Harry Kane. But the English national team is also brimming with other big names.

Whether it’s 120 million man Jack Grealish and shooting star Phil Foden from Manchester City, the speedy winger Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, or the experienced Raheem Sterling from Chelsea London – the coach of the Three Lions is spoilt for choice in the attacking area. Each of the players has already proven that he can decide games on his own if needed. So the opposing defenses will have to face some difficult tasks.

The midfield is also highly qualified. Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, Bukayo Saka from Arsenal London, Jordan Henderson from Liverpool FC, Declan Rice from West Ham, and Kalvin Phillips from English champions Manchester City are all fighting for coveted playing time. English fans have high hopes for Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham in particular. He is regarded as the Three Lions’ future shooting star. Performances at the 2022 World Cup could mean his final breakthrough.

The Three Lions’ defense reads like a selection of the best defenders in the domestic Premier League.

On the right wing, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker, and Reece James are fighting for their regular places. On the left, Luke Shaw of Manchester United and Ben Chilwell of Chelsea London open the duel for the most playing time.

In the center of defense, John Stones from Manchester City and Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur are considered to be the first choice, along with the defender Harry Maguire. However, Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan and Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace also fancy their chances.

Nevertheless, the defense is considered the weakest point in the English squad. This is not least due to the lack of a real world-class goalkeeper. Neither Dean Henderson nor Nick Pope, nor Aaron Ramsdale have been able to convince the national coach in the long term.

The almost traditional question of the Three Lions’ goalkeeper has also flared up again and again among the English population and in the domestic media.

A look at the 2022 World Cup – with a little luck to the title?

Looking at the groups that have already been decided for the upcoming World Cup, there will certainly be no complaints from England’s point of view. The English team will face the USA, Iran, and neighboring Wales. A comparatively easy group.

This gives the English national team the chance to win the group and thus put themselves in the best possible starting position for the following knockout phase.

There, the other top favorites for the coveted world championship title would be waiting. Besides Brazil and France, Germany, Argentina, and Spain are considered serious competitors. In the games against such top teams, it will be important for the English team to play to the strength of its own attack and to get to grips with the problems of its own defense.

Recenter performances, such as in the newly created Nations League, will probably not be enough against other favored teams.

Thanks to the quite feasible group stage, the English team has the comfortable opportunity to work its way into the tournament without immediately meeting a rival for the World Cup title.

Conclusion: with new euphoria to the long-awaited World Cup title

In addition to a better performance by their own team, the Three Lions’ fans are counting, above all, on a newly ignited wave of euphoria. At the latest, after a good start to the upcoming World Cup, the English team can once again hope for the terrific support of the English fans.

With the atmospheric support from the motherland of football, a title win for England at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is quite realistic.
