Uzoho’s first involvement with Nigerian football was with the under 17s. He was part of the squad that won the U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2013. A few years passed before Uzoho grabbed the attention of the senior national team handlers.
The goalie’s impressive club performances earned him an invite to the Nigerian national team Super Eagles in October 2017. It was, however, on November 14th of that same year that he made his full international debut coming on as a second-half substitute against Argentina in an international friendly match. His solid performance helped Nigeria shock the Argentines 4-2. Uzoho was chosen by Nigerian coach Gernot Rohr to be the Super Eagles number 1 ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he performed decently. Unfortunately, his performance wasn’t enough to prevent Nigeria from being knocked out in the group stage. However, he was part of the squad that would later go on to win a bronze medal at the tournament. Shortly after the Nation’s Cup, Francis suffered a nasty knee injury in a friendly match played against Brazil in October 2019, which has kept him out of the national team since then.
Uzoho’s youth career started out with the Senegalese branch of the Aspire Academy. His impressive performances for them during youth tournaments in Spain earned him a move to then La Liga side Deportivo de La Coruna, where he was immediately drafted to the youth team. Francis moved up the ranks playing for the youth and B teams before making his debut for the senior team in a La Liga match against SD Eibar on October 15th, 2017. Francis Uzoho became the youngest ever foreign goalkeeper to debut in La Liga, when he made his debut at the age of 18 years and 352 days.
He had since struggled to tie down a starting shirt with Deportivo and gone on loan to clubs in and outside of Spain to get game time. He was the goalkeeper for Cypriot side Athletic Club Omonia Nicosia on loan from Deportivo.
However, in July 2020, Uzoho signed a deal with Greek giants APOEL, on a three year contract.
