With a doubt, Kevin de Bruyne is the best midfielder in the Premier League. The Belgian magician once again had a very stellar season in the colours of Manchester City during the 2021/22 season.

The 31-year-old was the heart and soul of an impressive Cityzens team that claimed their 4th EPL title in 6 seasons. Kevin scored 15 goals and provided 8 assists in 30 league games.

De Bruyne’s standout performances saw him get named as the Premier League player for the 2021/2022 campaign and also be included in the team of the season.

His superior technique, passing, vision, and top-notch playmaking abilities also make him one of the best midfielders in the world.

The creative midfielder will be looking to have another great season as the start of the EPL approaches.

2. Bernardo Silva

The Portuguese international was one of the pillars of Manchester City’s success in the last league campaign.

The 27-year-old’s 8 goals and 4 assists in 35 games were instrumental in helping the Cityzens retain their league. His creativity and tireless running made the Manchester-based club such a terror to play against.

There have been recent rumors of Silva’s imminent departure from the blue half of Manchester, but should he decide to stay, he will be confident of re-establishing himself as one of the EPL’s best midfielders in the upcoming 2022/2023 season.

3. Mason Mount

The England international is one of the best young midfielders in the EPL right now.

The 23-year-old was a shining light in what was a somewhat disappointing season for his club Chelsea.

Mason scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 32 league games.

What makes Mason Mount one of the best midfielders in the Premier League is his brilliant ability to link up play, create chances, and score goals.

The Blues midfielder will be hoping to have an even better campaign in the 2022/2023 season as the start draws near.

4. Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes had a less than a satisfactory season, judging by his high standards.

The Manchester United attacking midfielder wasn’t at his optimal best, but that still didn’t stop him from scoring 10 goals in 36 appearances.

The Portuguese international also contributed 6 assists, which unfortunately wasn’t enough to guarantee a UEFA Champions League as United finished in 6th position.

Ever since he arrived in 2020, Fernandes has gradually risen to become one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old will be hoping to regain his top form as the new season commences.

5. Fabinho

Fabio Henrique Tavares or Fabinho, as he’s also called, has been one of Liverpool’s most important players over the years.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has been the Reds’ midfield enforcer for these past couple of seasons, helping the Merseysiders maintain their high level of play all these years.

Apart from his excellent defensive midfield work, Fabinho also contributed offensively last campaign. He scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist in 29 league games, which unfortunately wasn’t enough to make them win the league title. He is undoubtedly among the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

The Brazilian will be hoping he can help his team regain the EPL league title.
