    Soccer players are often celebrated for their skill on the field, their dedication to training, and their impressive physical ability. They are also known for their dazzling footwork and exceptional athletic ability.

    But what many people don’t know is that some of these athletes also possess an incredible talent for music.

    From singing in the locker room to recording albums, there are numerous soccer players who have pursued a second career in music or simply enjoy entertaining their fans with their vocal skills.

    In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the most talented soccer players who can sing.

    1. Memphis Depay

    The former Barcelona forward is one of the famous soccer players who are known as musicians.

    In June 2017, Memphis started to venture into the hip-hop industry with the release of his freestyle track “LA Vibes,” inspired by his time in Los Angeles.

    Quincy Promes, Memphis’ fellow teammate in the Netherlands national team, made an appearance in the music video. 

    He has since released hit tracks such as “Fall Back,” “No Love,” and “From Ghana.”

    2. Leighton Baines

    Baines is well known for his interest in music, particularly as a guitarist and self-proclaimed ‘indie kid.’

    The Everton full-back also hss close friendships with the Last Shadow Puppets’ Alex Turner and fellow Scouser Miles Kane, who happens to be a Liverpool fan.

    In fact, Baines was so committed to his music that he brought a guitar along as a carry-on when traveling with the England team to the 2014 World Cup.

    3. Allison Becker

    Apart from being a world-class goalkeeper, the Brazilian international is actually a very good singer. 

    Allison is a big fan of rock music and once performed the cover of a song by British band Oasis called ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger.’

    The Liverpool FC goalkeeper also flexed his musical chops during his initiation after joining the Reds in 2018. 

    Becker collaborated with local Liverpool musician Jamie Webster in a performance that wowed his teammates.

    4. Jesé Rodríguez

    The former Real Madrid player was also an enterprising singer.

     In 2014 he formed a Spanish Reggae-themed band with his friend called DJ Nuno.

    In 2015, he released a song under his stage name Jey M called ‘Yo Sabia.’ 

    He also released a music video for the song, and it has racked up over 30 million views on youtube.

    5. Sergio Ramos

    No one who have guessed that one of the soccer players with the most red cards in history is also a good singer.

    Well, in 2016, former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos released a song alongside Niña Pastori and RedOne titled La Roja Baila.

    The song became the Spanish national team’s official anthem for the 2016 European Championship.

    6. Alexis Lalas

    The former United States international was known to dabble in music in the mid-1990s. 

    Apart from his eccentric looks, Lalas was also a talented guitar player and singer who released six solo albums.

    Alexis had a rock band that occasionally opened for famous American acts like Hootie & the Blowfish.

    7. Petr Cech 

    In addition to being a talented goalkeeper during his time as a soccer player, Petr Cech also has a natural talent for drumming which he pursues as a hobby.

    He showcases his skills as a percussionist on his own YouTube channel, where he has covered songs by artists such as Stereophonics and Rihanna.

    8. Amadou Onana

    Thhe immensely talented Belgian midfielder serenaded fans with his musical talent on social media when he posted a video singing word for word Summer Walker’s “You don’t know what love is.”

    His voice was beautiful, and many fans were surprised that the 21-year-old could also sing so well.

    In November 2022, Amadou Onana was also seen sonorously singing Solomon’s “Listen up” before Belgium’s game against Morocco at the FIFA World Cup.

    9. Luis Díaz 

    Luis Díaz, the talented winger for Liverpool and the Colombian national team, has recently showcased his musical abilities.

    He contributed to Colombia’s official song for the 2024 Copa America, titled “El Ritmo Que Nos Une,” a reggaeton anthem that has quickly become a national hit.

    The song, led by Medellin artist Ryan Castro and produced by SOG, features traditional Colombian instruments like the kuisi or gaita flute.

    Díaz’s verse in the song highlights his versatility and adds a unique cultural touch, resonating with the passion he brings to soccer.

    10. Ruud Gullit

    Former Netherlands captain Gullit could have also had a career in music if he wasn’t so good at football. 

    The retired Dutch midfielder collaborated with local Dutch reggae band Revelation Time to release an anti-apartheid song ‘South Africa’ in 1988.

    Ruud has also at one time released a song titled ‘Not the Dancing Kind’ that made it to the top 10 music charts in Holland. 

    11. Glenn Hoddle

    The former England manager and player was well known for his dribbling skills and silky touch during his playing days.

    He also brought some of that silkiness to his vocal performance whenever he had the chance to sing. 

    Hoddle collaborated with then-England teammate Chris Waddle in 1987 to record a pop song titled Diamond Lights.

    Recently Glenn also performed on the British music variety show ‘The Mask Singer,’ where he showcased his impressive vocal range.

    12. Daniel Sturridge

    Daniel Sturridge is known for his love of hip-hop and R&B music, with a particular passion for Drake and Future.

    In 2016, the Liverpool forward expressed his interest in music production and has since spent his spare time making beats.

    Sturridge’s love for music has been well-documented, and he has been photographed on numerous occasions with notable artists such as Drake and Dizzee Rascal.

    Due to his interests and social circle, the striker has even been dubbed a ‘hipster footballer.’

    In 2021, the former Chelsea and Liverpool striker has recorded a hilarious parody song encouraging people to get vaccinated while he quarantined in a Perth hotel room.
