Over the years, quite a handful of footballers have distinguished themselves wearing this particular number. Here are some of the famous soccer players who wore the number 2 jersey.

    1. Gary Neville

    Neville is a retired English right-back who wore the number 2 jersey during his time with Manchester United from 1994-to 2011.

    Gary was an integral member of the all-conquering Red Devil sides of the mid-1990s to 2000s. He won a huge number of titles which include 8 Premier leagues, 3 FA Cups, 2 Leagues Cups, and 2 UEFA Champions League trophies, to mention a few.

    2. Cafu

    Cafu Footballers Who Wore The Number 2 Jersey

    Marcos Evangelista de Morais, more popularly known as Cafu, The retired Brazilian right-back, wore the number 2 jersey for the various clubs he featured for during his career. The 2002 World Cup winner used the number during his time in Italy, playing for AS Roma (1997-2003) and AC Milan (2003-2008). Apart from the World Cup, Cafu has also won the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.

    During his first successful spell with Spanish giants FC Barcelona between 2009-2013, the Brazilian full-back wore the number 2. The exciting wingback was part of a heavily talented Milan squad that won domestic and continental club competitions.

    3. Lee Dixon

    The former Arsenal FC right-back is one of the players to have worn the number 2 jersey the longest in the history of the Gunners. Dixon, between 1987-2002 made the number 2 his own. He was part of a famously frugal Arsenal defense that also included Steve Bould, Tony Adams, and Nigel Winterburn. Lee had a very successful spell in North London, winning four league titles, 3 FA Cups, and a European Cup Winners’ Cup trophy in the 1993/94 campaign.

    4. Lilian Thuram

    Thuram is a retired France international. The 1998 World Cup winner was an accomplished right-back known for his defensive acumen and occasional attacking forays. Lilian wore the number 2 jersey for France between 1994-2008.

    5. Ivan Cordoba

    Cordoba is a retired Colombian international who featured for the Italian side Inter Milan. The defender played in over 300 league games for the Nerazzurri, wearing the number 2 jersey between 2000-2012. During his time at the San Siro, Ivan won 5 Serie A titles, 4 Coppa Italias, and a UEFA Champions League trophy.

    6. Dani Alves

    Arguably one of the best right-backs in football history, Dani Alves wore the number 2 jersey for Barcelona from the 2009 to 2013 seasons. The Brazilian is also the most decorated footballer in history.

    7. Raphael Varane

    Raphael Varane was instrumental as Real Madrid won their back-to-back UCL trophies. He did it while donning the number 2 jersey for the Los Blancos.
