Biography
Maja began his career playing in the youth teams of Crystal Palace FC, Fulham FC, and Manchester City FC. He eventually joined Sunderland FC in 2015, from where he graduated to playing for the senior team of the Black Cats. Josh made his professional debut on the 21st of September, 2016. He came in as a second-half substitute for Sunderland in their 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers FC in the third round of the league cup. He also sat on the bench during the Premier League campaign of Sunderland but didn’t play a single minute for them before they got relegated.
Maja played a good number of games for Sunderland in the Championship but couldn’t prevent them from being relegated again as they dropped to League One. Josh’s career finally picked up the following season as he established himself in the first team scoring 16 times in 30 appearances during the 2018-2019 season.
His impressive performances earned him a lucrative move to French club Bordeaux FC on a four-and-a-half-year contract. He made his French Ligue 1 debut on the 27th of February, 2019 against Toulouse. Josh later scored his first goal on the 20th of April of the same year in a 2-1 home loss against fellow Ligue 1 side Nimes Olympique before a bad knee injury ended his season. Josh featured 17 times for Bordeaux in the 2020-2021 season scoring twice before his loan move to Premier League side Fulham in February of 2021.
