The color orange is one of the most unique color shades a team can wear as a soccer kit. This bright and flamboyant hue is not one you will associate with most football teams however quite a few have been able to pull it off and even make a name for themselves wearing that kind of shade. Today we spotlight some teams who wear Orange.
1. Netherlands National Team
The Dutch national team is historically one of the most talented soccer teams in the world. The Netherlands is famous for its exciting and entertaining brand of football. They have also produced numerous world-class players over the years. They are famously known as the Oranje due to the same color jersey they wear. They wear the hue in honor of the Dutch Royal Family whose official color is Orange that is the House of Orange-Nassau.
2. Blackpool FC
The Seasiders are an English club that plays in the second-tier Championship League. The club was formed about 134 years ago. Blackpool is famous for wearing the orange kit from where they get their nickname the Tangerines. They had a brief stint in the English Premier League (EPL) about 10 years ago, spending just a season before getting relegated back to the Championship. They have oscillated up and down the various English divisions over the years, and will be hoping to build sustainable good performances that will ultimately see them get back to the EPL.
3. Dundee United FC
The Scottish Premier League club is one of the most well-known clubs in Scotland outside of Glasgow Rangers and Celtic. The Terrors, as they are known, have been in existence since 1909. They are also referred to as the Tangerines due to their orange-colored jersey. The 1980s were the most successful period in the club’s history. During this time, they won their first and so far, only Scottish league and reached the finals of the UEFA Cup, later known as Europa League.
4. Istanbul Basaksehir FK
This Turkish club came into existence about 31 years ago. Since then, they have gone on to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the Turkish SuperLig. The former league winners also wear orange jerseys on blue shorts with orange socks. They are most remembered for their UEFA Champions League campaigns in the 2020/2021 UCL campaign when they surprisingly defeated English giants Manchester United at home 2-1.
5. Houston Dynamo
Dynamo is an American Major League Soccer team founded about 15 years ago. They play their home matches at the BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas. They are nicknamed the Orange Crush due to their all-orange jersey.
6. Ivory Coast national football team
The Ivorian national football team also wear the orange-colored jersey. The Elephants are two-time African Cup of Nations winners.
