Although many foreign players from all over the world have played in Scotland, only a handful of African players have played at Celtic FC in their long history.
The Scottish giants have signed African players, who have helped the club to win trophies.

Here are the best African players to play for Celtic.

1. Bobo Baldé

The French-born Guinean defender is one of the greatest African players to play at Celtic Park. Baldé joined Celtic from Toulouse on 21 July 2001 and made 232 league appearances for the Hoops. Baldé was named the Celtic Player of The Year for 2003. He is regarded as one of the best foreign players to play in Scotland.

2. Victor Wanyama

Victor Wanyama became the first-ever Kenyan player to score in the UEFA Champions League when he played for Celtic. The imposing midfielder scored the first goal in Celtic’s historic 2–1 win over Barcelona in 2012. He made 61 league appearances for Celtic, scoring 10 goals. The Kenyan was also one of the most expensive players sold by Celtic, as he signed for Premier League club Southampton for £12.5 million in 2013.

3. Efe Ambrose

Efe Ambrose is the only Nigerian player to play for Celtic, but undoubtedly one of the best African players who played there. Ambrose joined Celtic from Israeli Premier League club FC Ashdod in 2012. The defender made 113 league appearances for Celtic and scored 5 goals.

4. Mohammed Sylla

Sylla joined Celtic for £650,000 in August 2001 and made over 50 appearances for the club. The Guinean winger also won Scottish Premier League and Scottish Cup at the club. Sylla won the league twice during his time at the club in 2002 and 2004. He was eventually released in 2005 and then signed for Leicester City.

5. Olivier Tébily

Coaching legend Kenny Dalglish brought in Tébily to Celtic when he was Director of Football at the club. The Ivorian defender made 38 league appearances at Celtic before he left to join Birmingham City. Although he was not a regular starter at the club, he won the league title in the 2000/01 season.

6. Landry N’Guémo

The Cameroonian defensive midfielder was signed on loan from Nancy to Celtic in 2009. N’Guémo was a regular starter during his one-year loan spell at the Scottish club. He made 35 appearances for Celtic without scoring, after which he left for Bordeaux.

7. Henri Camara

Henri Camara had a very brief spell at Celtic, but the Senegalese was in good goalscoring form at the club. He scored eight goals from twelve starts and six substitute appearances for the Hoops.
