Puma is a sports and casual wear manufacturing company that has been in existence since 1948. 

The German multinational corporation was founded by Rudolf Dassler, the brother of Adolf Hassler, who founded another popular sportswear company Adidas.

 Though not as popular as the other bigger kit-making companies, Puma has been able to carve a niche for itself and currently sponsors some of the best teams in world football or soccer. 

Today we look at some of the popular soccer teams that are sponsored by Puma.

1. Switzerland

Puma has been the Swiss sole kit sponsor since 1998. 

The German company has been associated with the Swiss national team for so long that it looks out of place not to see the logo of Puma on any jersey that Switzerland steps out in.

2. Ghana

Ghana has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the kit manufacturers since they started using them in 2005. 

The Ghanaian Black Stars have attended every World Cup decked out in Puma wear since their debut at the 2006 World Cup in Germany. 

The relationship will continue in the current edition of the FIFA World Cup when the West Africans take to the field in Qatar.

3. Egypt

The Egypt national football team have had three contracts with Puma. 

The Pharoahs are one of the top soccer national teams in Africa.

The seven-time AFCON winners first had a sponsorship deal with Puma from 1999–2004 and again from 2006–2011.

Now, the North African powerhouse have been sponsored by Puma since 2019.

4. Uruguay

The South American country has partnered with Puma for some years now.

The German company first kitted the Uruguayans between 1987-1991 before returning for their second and current spell in 2006.

5. Borussia Dortmund

Puma has been the kit supplier for German top-flight side Borussia Dortmund since 2012.

In 2019 Dortmund signed a contract extension with the sportswear company worth $278m to last till 2028. 

6. AC Milan  

The Italian Serie A champions Milan started working with Puma in 2018.

It was recently reported that the Rossoneri renewed their kit sponsorship contract with the German company and will earn $31.5m yearly.

7. Manchester City

The English giants signed one of the biggest kit sponsorship deals in world football with Puma in 2019. 

The Cityzens signed a 10-year agreement with the kit manufacturers that will see them earn $860m over the period. 

This was a big coup for the German company that replaced previous kit suppliers, Nike. 

8. Olympique Marseille

Olympique Marseille are one of the biggest clubs in France that is sponsored by Puma.

The French club has won ten Ligue 1 titles, ten Coupes de France, and three Coupes de la Ligue.

They began their partnership with Puma in the 2018/2019 season.

9. Serbia

Puma has been the sole kit supplier for the Slavic nation since 2018. Serbia played in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, wearing the German company’s branded kit.

10. Valencia 

Valencia are one of the biggest soccer teams in Spain. 

They has won six Spanish League titles, eight Copa del Rey titles, one Supercopa de España, and performed well in European competitions.

Valencia has been sponsored by Puma since the 2019/20 season.

11. Senegal

The 2021 AFCON winners are one of the many African national soccer teams that are sponsored by Puma.

Puma has been the manufacturer of their kits since 2004. The home kit is typically white, and the away kit is green.

The two-time African Cup of Nations winners have produced many of the greatest African football legends.

Ivory Coast has been sponsored by Puma since 2005.

13. Morocco

In the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Morocco became the first African team to reach the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup.

They achieved that while wearing the kits manufactured by Puma after they agreed on a kit sponsorship contract in 2019.

Morocco also had one of the best kits at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

14. Palmeiras 

Palmeiras is one of the most popular soccer clubs in South America, with millions supporters and more than 80,000 affiliated fans.

In 2019, Palmeiras signed a kit deal with Puma worth $7.5 million per year.

15. Mamelodi Sundowns 

Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns are one of the African football clubs with the most fans.

They have won the Premier League title a record 12 times 

Puma has sponsored South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns since 2016.
