1. ASEC Mimosa – 108 matches

Les Mimos, as they are affectionately known is one of the oldest and most famous clubs on the African continent. ASEC is based in Abidjan, the biggest city in the Ivory Coast. The Ivorian club which was established in 1948, is arguably one of the most dominant clubs in the West African country. Unknown to many people, Mimosa also holds the record for the team with the longest unbeaten run in domestic league football. ASEC went an incredible 108 matches between 1989-1994 to set this amazing record that is yet to be broken. In 1994 they lost to rivals SO de l’Armée, to end their phenomenal unbeaten League run.

2. Steaua Bucuresti – 104 matches

The Romanian giants hold the record for one of the longest unbeaten runs in league football, going a mind-boggling 104 games without loss over 4 years from June 1986 to September 1989. During that period, they were able to win the league title 4 times, and also won all 15 Romanian Cup matches they played in that period, continuing their dominance as the best club side in Romania.

3. Lincoln Red Imps FC – 88 matches

Lincoln FC is a Gibraltarian club side that was established in 1976. Lincoln is one of the best sides on the Island nation, having won numerous domestic league and cup titles. They also have one of the longest unbeaten league records in the world, having gone an impressive 88 games undefeated between 2009-2014. This impressive feat occured between 9 May 2009 and 19 September 2014, as they did lose a single game in the Gibraltar Premier Division. It lasted for 1,959 days, which was the longest chronological unbeaten league streak.

4. Esperance Sportive de Tunis – 85 matches

Esperance of Tunisia is one of the most popular clubs in this football-mad North African country. Easily recognizable by their red and gold striped jersey, the Tunis-based club is one of the most respected and feared teams on the African continent. Domestically The Blood and Golds almost have no equal winning numerous league and cup titles. Esperance also has a long unbeaten record to their name. They have gone 85 matches without loss between 1997-2001, cementing their legacy as one of the best teams in the land.

5. Al Ahly SC – 71 matches

The Egyptian powerhouses are one of the greatest clubs in the land of the Pharaohs. They also play in one of the top African football Leagues. The Cairo-based club, apart from being one of the best-followed clubs in Egypt, also has an impressive unbeaten record. El Mared El Ahmar went undefeated for 71 straight games between 2004-2007. This feat was especially more admirable considering the level of competition in the North African country.
