5 Fixtures to Look Forward to in La Liga This Weekend

Venues across Spain will light up this weekend when week 26 Matches are played all over the country. There are quite a few interesting games on offer. However, these are the matches you should definitely lEl Clasicoook out for.

1. Real Madrid CF vs. FC Barcelona 

 

El Clasico, part 2, is just days away. The most anticipated match in the global football club calendar will be played on Sunday, March 1st, 2020. Los Blancos will be attempting to defeat league leaders Barcelona who are unbeaten in 4 matches. Zinedine Zidane’s men have been off the boil in the past few weeks. This has allowed their Catalan rivals to take the initiative in the league. Barcelona is currently top of the league on 55 points 2 ahead of rivals Madrid. A draw or win will not only stretch Barca’s lead but also strike a psychological blow to their eternal rival’s title ambitions. Real Madrid can’t afford another slip as they seek their first title in 3 years.

2. RCD Espanyol de Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid 

Diego Simeone’s men will be hoping to capitalise on the fallout from El Clasico when they travel to face bottom side, Espanyol. Rojiblancos will be aiming to press on their advantage as they target a win over their hosts. Victory will push Atletico to 46 points as they try to close the gap on the top 2 teams. The home side, however, is in dire straits and will need a miracle to avoid another defeat that will further hasten their exit out of the Spanish top division.

3. Valencia CF vs. Real Betis

Los Ches will be hoping for a change in fortunes when they host 13th placed Betis. Valencia has endured an awful run of recent losing 3 of their last 4 matches. Their opponents haven’t fared any better as well, currently experiencing a 5 game winless. The home team will be desperate for a win to get them back on track and keep their hopes of a European spot alive.

4. Sevilla FC vs. CA Osasuna

Sevilla will be targeting their 13th win of the season when they host Basque side Osasuna. Julen Lopetequi’s men are currently in 4th position and will be aiming for a home win to cement their place in the champion’s league positions. Osasuna have been off and on in recent weeks, so building that consistent performance will be just what the doctor ordered.

5. Atletico Bilbao vs. Villarreal CF

The Yellow submarine will be travelling to Bilbao for this week 26 clash. Villarreal, who are currently 7th on the league table, will be hoping to get back to winning ways after last weeks’ defeat against Atletico Madrid. Their opponents Bilbao have been on a terrible losing streak for some weeks now and will be desperate to end that miserable run. This is sure to be an intriguing tie.
